I created a series of illustrations for Settle Stories and their Stories for Schools programme, depicting the story of Aesop’s Fable, The Fox and The Grapes. This work is part of the charity’s digital library, supporting educational content for primary schools and aims to make important themes and messages engaging and accessible for young learners. In the story of The Fox and The Grapes, children learn about how people sometimes pretend they never wanted something they couldn’t have, as a way of protecting their pride or avoiding disappointment. Through the story, young readers are encouraged to recognise when they might be making excuses for frustration, be honest about their feelings, and understand that it’s okay not to succeed right away, and that trying is better than giving up.
